CHARGING SCENARIO: HOME CHARGING

Vehicle-to-home integration with HEMS for renewables’ integration and tariff optimization in prosumer and consumer homes.

Expected impacts

The demonstrator tests benefits and opportunities arising from V2B (vehicle-to-building) in the tourist accommodation sector. It will deliver key lessons learned for modernization, sustainability, and win-win business cases that support hotel facilities, EV users, and the island tourism sector as a whole.

Business model

The main tested business model in this demo is based on flexibility services offered by EV owners to building managers, which are enabled by short-term parking events in hotel accomodation facilities. Participant EV owners/service providers can be tourists or fleet managers/car clubs. Through the integration with building energy management systems, hotels can optimise their electricity spending by better managing tariffs. The building manager provides EV owners with compensation for accessing idle battery capacity.
