The DriVe2X project has officially launched a brand-new video series dedicated to presenting its demonstration sites across Europe. Each video in this series will highlight how bidirectional electric vehicle (EV) charging is being tested and implemented to create smarter, more sustainable energy systems.

The first episode focuses on the Isle of Wight (UK), where the project is exploring how this cutting-edge technology can support the local tourism economy. Specifically, the site is trialing the use of bidirectional EV charging in visitor accommodations such as hotels and campsites. This approach enables EVs not only to charge but also to feed excess energy back into buildings or the grid, optimising energy usage and reducing pressure during peak demand times.

In practice, this means an EV could charge overnight, be used for transportation during the day, and then discharge surplus energy to support buildings in the evening. The process is designed to be fully automated and adaptable to the unique needs of each accommodation provider, ensuring both efficiency and ease of use.
